Don is the former COO and Managing Director of Houston based RBC Richardson Barr, the upstream energy advisory practice for RBC Capital Markets. He has extensive experience working with North America’s leading energy companies in a variety of advisory capacities, but most frequently related to acquisitions and divestitures of oil & gas properties and companies. Richardson Barr was acquired by RBC Capital Markets in 2008 and is recognized as an industry leader in their field. In his role, he focused on project execution and managed 20+ technical professionals. Richardson Barr’s client base was primarily private equity backed management teams while RBC Richardson Barr clients were a mix of public and private energy companies.

Don advised on over $40B of energy transactions during his tenure. Notable deals include Sandridge Energy’s $2.6B divestiture in the Midland Basin to Sheridan Production Partners, Apollo’s $7.2B acquisition of EP Energy, Linn Energy’s $2B divestiture in Mid Continent to Enervest, and Crescent Point Energy’s $860MM acquisition of Ute Energy’s Uinta Basin assets.

Don has a B.S. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Duquesne University. He is also a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. Prior to Richardson Barr, Don held various engineering positions with Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., EQT Inc. and Quaker State Corp. Don serves as a Board Member of certain Mountain Capital Portfolio Investments.
