Carin is co-founder and President of LB Capital, Inc., a private equity firm established in 1988 that focuses its investments in the energy and financial services industries. She currently serves on the board of Enterprise Holdings LLC, the General Partner of Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (NYSE: EPD), Black Stone Minerals, L.P. (NYSE: BSM), where she is lead director and chair of its Audit Committee, Group 1 Automotive, Inc. (NYSE: GPI), where she serves as chair of its Audit Committee and Fulcrum BioEnergy, Inc., where she serves as chair of its Audit Committee. Additionally, Carin is a board member of The Welch Foundation and is an operating partner to Mountain Capital Management, LLC.

Carin has previously served the following organizations in the capacities highlighted: director of BBVA USA Bancshares, Inc. from 2020-2021, where she also served as Chair of the Audit Committee in 2021; director of Specialty Welding and Turnarounds, LLC, from 2017-2020; Chairman of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Endowment at Texas Tech University from 2012 – 2018;
director of Strategic Growth Bank Incorporated from 2010-2017, where she served as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committees; director of Bill Barrett Corporation (NYSE: BBG) from 2012-2016; director of Western Refining, Inc. (NYSE: WNR) from 2006-2016, where she also served as Chair of the Audit Committee; Commissioner of the Texas Department of Public Safety from 2008-2014; director of the Methodist Hospital Research Institute from 2007-2012; director of Encore Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: EBTX) from 2009-2012; director of Amegy Bancorporation, Inc. (NASDAQ: ABNK) from 2006-2009; director of the Texas Public Finance Authority from 2006-2008; member of the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents from 1999-2005; and as a US Senate confirmed appointee of President George W. Bush to the position of Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from 2004-2005.

In recognition of her business and civic involvements, Carin has received the NACD Directorship 100 Award, the University of Alabama - Culverhouse Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award, an Honorary Doctorate Award from Texas Tech University, and the Distinguished Young Alumni Award from the Owen Graduate School of Management. Carin received a B.S. from the University of Alabama, summa cum laude, and an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
